Everything I Like Causes Cancer

Where we've been convinced to write a new post on Dec. 2. Stay tuned!

As I write this I am sitting at my home-office desk. My view is of my back yard and a small section of my neighbor's back yard. About an hour ago a team of long-haired dudes showed up to trim my neighbor's very large and overgrown oak tree. Right now one of them is sitting in a chair at the far end of the yard, staring up into the tree. While I am sure there is someone else up in the tree doing the actual cutting, from this perspective - and from the way he is sitting like a swami - it looks like this guy is cutting the limbs with his mind. It's really funny. I wish you were here to see it. That is all. Go back to work now.

Nice! Take a pic and post it. Once I missed out on the Mexican guy sleeping in my backyard when he was supposed to be mixing cement for my patio. Apparently the boss left and he laid down.

If you trim it, they will come.

And you can take that any one of the 100 ways you want to!

Aren't you glad you open your mind to see the interesting things around you? Life is awesomely fun, if you decide to look for it...

If I was that guy and I knew you were watching, I'd wave my hands around like I was a Jedi and I was controlling it all.

I can picture the scene...I guess it would be funny! lol

Cutting a tree is an act of vandalism. I'd like to kick that pseudo-swami in the butt.

I'm late here, so I'll just say that I'd like this guy's number so that he can teach me to remove people's pants with my mind. That would be awesome.

Now we finally have an answer to the age old question: How many lawn care professionals does it take to be present? One.

At some of the jobs I've had, I've watched others stand around and get paid. I think the ones that do believe they are actually being productive.

I have an actual forest in my backyard. One tree stands about 20 feet. I like it for the fact that it's suppose to be my fence. But the openess between me and my neighbors around even behind the forest we just pretend that we don't see each other.

Do you think the guy who was sitting like a swami cutting your neighbor's oak tree could give me a crystal caring view if he cut the trees down in my back yard?

That would be a site to see. LOL!

Go back to work now? I think I'll just sit in the lotus position, gazing down at my navel and daydream about this guy doing my yard work and all my other tedious tasks for me...

Hey man, that pic is of a famous Hindu saint Swami Vivekananda. Google him, you'll find out. Most probably you didn't know it, but it looks disrespectful, please take it down.

The Ritzy said...

Well, Swami Vivekananda is not just another swami, he's the one who gave the historic speech introducing Hinduism in Parliament of World's Religions in Chicago in 1893. He supposedly had a photographic memory.

Soumyendu said...

Yep, and his first disciple was Sadananda, who was actually a railroad station master. I think Gwen ought ta Google up Vivekananda because he was like St Peter to the sage Ramakrishna. Vivekananda wrote a poem called To The Fourth Of July, do have a look see

Do you know who is the guy in the picture? I don't think you know! Shame on you!

MEGHA CAPITAL said...

SHAME ON YOU.
THE PERSON IN PICTURE IS SWAMI VIVEKANAND.
HE IS A FAMOUS SAINT FROM INDIA.
JUST APOLOGIZE FOR YOUR STUPIDNESS.
AND RESEARCH PROPERLY BEFORE YOU POST PHOTOS OR FACTS.
JUST PUT THE PIC OUT AND PUT AN APOLOGY POST BEFORE HUNDREDS AND LACS OF PEOPLE START TO PIN POINT YOU FOR SUCH A SILLY MISTAKE.

The picture is not displayed disrespectfully, the author is trying to show how the person was sitting and what it brought to her mind. People who do not understand Western culture or the importance we place on free speech should think about the author's intent before wasting time becoming offended over nothing. No offense was intended and as such, no harm, no foul. I hate the way everybody is expected to go groveling over every little thing nowadays when some group starts hollering about their wounded feelings.

MEGHA CAPITAL said...

IF THE AUTHOR IS TRYING TO SHOW HOW A PERSON WAS SITTING THEN USE SOME CARTOON OR CUSTOM MADE PIC.
YOU DO NOT USE A PHOTO OR SOMETHING WHICH IS DEEPLY ASSOCIATED WITH BILLIONS OF PEOPLES' BELIEF.
YOU OR THE AUTHOR SIMPLY DO NOT KNOW AND UNDERSTAND WHO THE PERSON IS IN THE PICTURE. THE PERSON IS AS RESPECTFUL AS GOD HIMSELF IN INDIAN CULTURE.
R U GETTING MS ENTHUSIST BLOGGER?

Apurva Tripathi said...

if author is putting this guy in picture then she is screaming and saying i m illitrate and i have no sense to write or obeserve.or i cannot pay respect to any body in the world .and i can make fun of any dammm buddy whoever it is.hope u dont do with jesus or prof.mohhomad.or any god or goddess.becoz then u r not civilised in any dammm culture

Wow. I hope these folks haven't seen the movie "Music & Lyrics". Aside from the abomination of Hugh Grant SINGING, there's also a pop singer who wants to infuse her music with an Indian flair.

(*shudder*)

Trappist Monk said...

doesnt seem like u know much about indian music sir.
and ignorances breed such mistakes, we know.
While freedom is quite alright, ( we have examples of saints who've done funny things, we could all sit down and have a lovely chat about it all) this man has done wonders for the development of the Hindu philosophy. and for such, he doesnt deserve crude treatment( for the purpose of a joke that could have done without him).

if u really need the picture of a swami, do think about using caricatures.

you must also realise the idea of freedom would make sense if you have every idea about the issue you're grappling with. if u had every idea who he was, and still decided to use it, well then god help us all.

but if you didnt, atleast look him up. if so many people have been outraged, its not without reason. we dont care about an apology. we dont require it. just understand the complications of the debate you've raised.

Trappist Monk said...

everyone cares about freedom as much as the next person. culture doesnt even come in. but credit has to be given where it should be. If the respectable blogger needed a picture, typed in swami in google and this was the first picture that turned up and she used it without knowing anything about him, then that's a mighty shame.

if freedom were that easy to bandy about, lets see Miss Ophelia Keith stand up for one man's "freedom" to exterminate an entire ethnic group during the WWII. He got away with it. Tell me, have your "western" principles been propitiated?

But otherwise, fun blog Gwen :)

IT SEEMS LIKE THE LADY WANT TO BECOME A CELEBRITY AND NOW HAS A REASON TOO!
A THE GENTLEMAN SAID, WE DO NOT NEED AN APOLOGY. JUST REMOVE THE PICTURE. I CAN MAIL YOU A SUBSTITUTE PICTURE. IF YOU ARE NOT RIGID UN-HUMAN CREATURE, THEN IT SEEMS LIKE YOU ARE HAVING FUN PLAYING EMOTIONS WITH RELIGIOUS BELIEFS. AND MIND IT, THIS THING IS MORE THAN RELIGIOUS.
AS THE GENTLEMAN RIGHTLY SAID, IF TYPING SWAMI BRINGS THE FIRST IMAGE OF SHREE VIVEKANAND, THEN YOU SHOULD HAVE USED YOUR BRAINS (IF YOU HAVE ONE!) TO FIND OUT IF YOU WOULDNT MAKE ANY MISTAKE POSTING THE PIC FOR A STUPID POST.
IF YOU THINNK U R BOLD ENOUGH, THEN WHY DONT POST A FUNNY PIC FOR MOHMED?
GENTLEMAN VANRAJ HAS RIGHTLY SAID, STUPID PEOPLE LIKE YOU CAUSE HUGE COMMUNAL VIOLENCE. AND THE PITY IS THAT YOU DONT EVEN REALIZE IT...
